One thing you guys should know about me is that I'm pretty fond of watching documentary films. Unbelievably fascinating and really well directed, documtaries are as thrilling and gripping (and sometimes even truly heartbreaking) as a really well done film.

Here's one I really adore:

Ha! I finished reviewing for 1 of 5 courses today. Reviewed all the whole theoretical part for accountancy. It definitely paid off to start early, somewhere far away from any kind of distractions.

Like in the university library.

Heath Ledger is dead. He died Jan. 22, 2008

It was not immediately clear if the Australian-born Ledger had committed suicide.

RIP mate. You are one of the actors I respected for what you've accomplished and done, not for how you looked like, nor how popular you were.

Of all the inept people and celebrities out there (yes, I'm referring to the two most blond nuisance of our current society) who deserved to be get rid of, why Heath? He's young and he has acting potential. He's someone who should die in an old age with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

All right people, for those who just recently added me to their friends' list, or those who are thinking about it, before I do the same, please do me a favor and tell me about you and justify yourself why you did it.

I do not mind when people add me in their list, on the contrary: I am quite glad that some people are interested on me. It's just I would like to have an overall view on the people on my list. I do not want this account to end up like myspace where I have people listed whom are mere strangers to me. So please do me a favor and tell me something about you and why you added me or else I might not want adding you back.

Thank you for your understanding.

Well, there are some good news and bad news occurring in my real life. The good news is: I finally found an apartment near the city of Darmstadt. 250€ inclusive additional costs (electricity, water and internet connection), 23m² big and about 8km away from the city. Not bad

The bad news:

Luciano Pavarotti is dead.

ROME - Luciano Pavarotti, whose vibrant high C's and ebullient showmanship made him the most beloved and celebrated tenor since Caruso and one of the few opera singers to win crossover fame as a popular superstar, died Thursday. He was 71.

Why, why are the appartments in Darmstadt so expensive?

So turning twenty isn't that bad as I suspected. Well, as a normal lady who has a tendency to freak out at every symptoms of aging, I did not anticipate it at all. When I was *cough* younger I thought I'd be much different, more...mature and adult.

Anyway, cheers amigos!

Now that I have time, I finally can do the things I longed to do while reviewing for my exams.

Books to read:

  1. The Historian from Elizabeth Kostowa

  2. Twelve Sharp from Janet Evanovich

  3. Four Terry Pratchett books

  4. The Cement Garden from Ian McEwan

  5. Der Dativ ist dem Genitiv sein Tod Fole 1,2 & 3 from Sebastian Sick

Audio books (if that's how you call them):

  1. Three Artemis Fowl novels from Eion Colfer

  2. The Mysterious Flame of Queen Loana from Umberto Eco

  3. Pride and Prejudice from Jane Austen

  4. The Lover from Marguerite Duras

And yes, I have now time to write so I will be continuing my Peter/Susan fic right away.

Wow, business management went well as I anticipated. Okay, I did not manage to finish all tasks because the time wasn't sufficient. But I did manage to finish a proud number of tasks, so my only problem would be if my answers are right.

Anyway, I am satisfied with my work and I don't have this so-called exam nerves anymore. The worst part is over and I'm really happy.

Tomorrow's subject will be english (YES!). Last exam. Then it's over.

Finally...

*dances happy dance*
jemmir: (Default)
Math was a disaster.

*headdesk*
jemmir: (Default)
Okay, today was the first day of my final exams. Today's subject was German.

Analyze the text passage taken from Friedrich Schiller's Drama "Kabale und Liebe" also known as "Intrigue and Love" and compare the the significance of love for the two protagonists Luise Miller and Ferdinand von Walter as well as for the two central figures in Theodor Fontane's novel "Effi Briest" Geert von Innstetten and Effi Briest.

It wasn't that bad. I prayed that the text passage would be from "Intrigue and Love". It was much easier to find those rhetorical thingies in the drama than in the novel.

My only problem in German is the grammar. After living 8 years here, I still don't master the German grammar. I have problems alone distinguishing the articles. Compared to English there are 3 words for 'the' which differs the substantives from their...well...'sex'. 'der' is for masculine nouns, 'die' for feminine and 'das' for neutral...*grumbles*. Even those from France can't understand why there should be a neutral article. Stupid articles, stupid tenses and stupid accusative cases... German is a wonderful language and I'm proud to be able to speak it fluently; it's the grammar that sucks.

Tomorrow's subject will be math. Still need to practice for that.

Anyway, as the subject of this post's says: 1 down. 3 to go.

Poem

jemmir: (books)
Mir bleibt mein Lied

Mir bleibt mein Lied, was auch geschieht,
mein Reich ist nicht von dieser Welt,
ich bin kein Märtyrer und Held,
ich lausche allem, was da klingt
und sich in mir sein Echo mich singt.
Ob jedes andre Glück mich flieht-
mir bleibt mein Lied.

Schutzengelhaft gibt es mir Kraft,
denn seine Melodie beschwört
das Böse, das den Frieden stört,
doch nicht in meinen abend dringt,
den zärtlich die Musik beschwingt.
Ob sich der Himmer schwarz umzieht-
mir bleibt mein Lied.

Was lärmend schallt, ist bald verhallt,
misstönende Vergangenheit,
die nur die eigene Schande schreit,
wenn maßvoll mit holdseligen Ton,
in fast jenseitiger Klarheit schon,
mein Lied auf seinem Abschiedspfad
den Sternen naht...

Today was an exasperating day...

02:00 am: goes to sleep after finishing presentation for religion and reviewing for history test.
05:30 am:Alarm clock rings for the first time
05:45 am:alarm clock rings for the second time which is immediately turned off
05:46 am:falls asleep again
06:09 am:dad comes into room and says not to forget to wake up
06:34 am:leaves house for bus
07:10 am:is in school

My presentation was at 11:10 o'clock and by then, I was really jumpy and nervous. My teacher said it was good and well done. I managed to describe my theme really well, but as being a pessimist I thought I just sucked. And then directly after that I had to run back upstairs to my classroom for my history exam (That wasn't even better at all *grumbles*). No body was obliged to do it. A second mark for this term was not necessary anymore; the exam was just for those who wanted to improve their marks so we could decide if we wanted to or not. I was one of those people who wanted it and I thought the test wasn't even that hard, if you were properly prepared. I was prepared...I was just...tired at the end. And when I thought I could sit back and relax and go to the city for a little window shopping, I forgot that I had driving lessons at 1 o'clock and not at 1:30...*grooms*

One of my biggest obsession is chocolate. *dreams and drools* I don't think that's something extraordinary. No woman or lady could withstand the seducing and delighting impact of it. No doubt it's called food for the gods. If you give me a choice you'll see me pick a chocolate variety. Chocolate cake, mousse au chocolate, hot chocolate, chocolate ice cream ... if chocolate is in it, I'm in for it too.

As being a chocolate freak I'm desperately trying to make myself some pralines. Good nice sweet little thingys that melts so lovely in your tongue leaving such a delicious taste afterward. *dreams and drools again* Today, I made some for the 3rd time in my life and darn it when they come out as useless goo - again. I made the mistake on the first time by using plain chocolate so as to not repeat that again I used chocolate coating. If that won't work I swear I'm going to thump on something really hard...

Okay, I spent my whole summer vacation working (6 weeks!). I didn't go anywhere but just worked, worked and again worked. I had to wake up at 5 am every morning and now that school started I was happy to wake up an hour later.

First day of school means: new teachers, new classroom, new subjects, new books and new classmates. But as a high school senior you don't expect these. The only thing new is that our classroom is at the third floor (means more stairs...urgh!) and the mark scale got stricter (meaning you need to finish more that 3/4 of a test to achieve at least an average grade). And since it's my last year and I will be officially qualified to enter the university it also means: learn, learn and again learn *puh!*

I want to watch "Das Parfum - Die Geschichte eines Mörders". I read the book and I say I highly recommend it to you guys who are interested. Patrick Süsskind is a genius! At our last German lesson my teacher said that she wanted to motivate us to read more books. So she let us choose: "Das Leben eines Taugenichts" or something like that and "Das Parfum" aka "The Perfume - The story of a murderer". I said it will soon appear in the theatres and I highly recommend it (actually I wanted to watch it because Rachel plays a part there and I was just stunned at how much she has changed) and so our class picked it.

I just found out that Rachel-Hurdwood has a bf...and it's not Jeremy. She looks so stunningly beautiful, so grown up and mature now...*sighs* I am really curious of what Jeremy is thinking right now about her.

*sighs* got to finish my homework and then continue with my story...

I bought it

Sep. 4th, 2006 04:47 pm
jemmir: (Default)
*scratches head*

I bought it. I really bought myself a new mp3-player for 149€ without waiting for my dad.

Bullshit if the old one ever returns. I don't care anymore. I'm in love with my new one. *hails new mp3-player*
jemmir: (Default)
I got my first pay! +yippie+ I went yesterday to the bank to check my account and voilà! Plus 900€. I must say, it felt really good to see a three-digit number in my account. And even better: it’s not overdrawn money.

One of my most precious and I-cannot-live-without-it belongings is my mp3-player. I almost use it every where I go or where you can find me. In my room (‘coz I can’t listen to loud music on account of the house has really thin walls and you can hear every whisper), on my way to school in the bus, shopping, walking, jogging or anywhere I go. You’ll even see me using it while backing something or storing the groceries in the cellar. Yes, I am totally addicted to my mp3-player, and not only that, I’m proud of it too. It has 1GB memory and lots of other goodies. It works even better than other players, like the stereo’s louder and has a nice folder system in it. +sighs+

Now, for the second time, I had to send my mp3-player back to the manufacturer because of some malfunctioning. My problem is, the first time I send it back, they didn’t return the receipt. And it says for a replacement demand you need to send the product back with its receipt as a proof of its valid three years guarantee. My very reliable and proper father ( I really, really mean that!) made a copy of the receipt and send it instead of the original. I don’t know if the manufacturer accepted it, but I have no good hopes. A letter without a sender's address for my father came a week after I brought my player to the post. It looks suspiciously from Tevion (the brand of my player) but I am not really sure. I cannot open it for it’s my dad’s letter and he was the one who filled the form for it. He is in the moment in Poland with my mum and my brother and he might arrive at weekend. But when the hell is weekend? Or which day at weekend?

I decided to buy a new one in case it goes bonkers again. The mp3-player my dad gave me was one of those weekly offers from a discount shop. The products that the shop offers are, surprisingly, not to be underestimated. In fact, they mostly have really good quality. We bought once a computer from that shop (Aldi for those who really want to know it) and that was like, 7-8 years ago. Believe it or not, the computer still works. I am actually using it right now, because it’s only the one with the internet connection. Okay, the quality now is not as good anymore as for 7 years, but it still works. And that’s what counts momentarily.
This example shows how reliable the products are and how come we trusted the brand and bought my player there. So, don’t think my dad was just being penny-pinching at Christmas. No, he even asked me which one I preferred. And I was the one who chose the cheaper one. And that’s what I get for it.

Feeling that the chances I get a replacement for my mp3-player were really low, I went yesterday to an electronics shop to check some mp3-players, and boy, did I find a good one. 2GB Memory, Touch-function, looks like an ipod but it’s not. Small and handy. Cute. Sexy. I LOVED IT! I literally fell in love with it! I have right now this extreme craving to posses such thing. I am even wishing that I will not get a replacement for my old mp3-player so I can buy it. I do have the money now for it +grins from ear to ear+ It costs 149€ and, damn, I am willing to pay for it. I decided to buy a real good player that, hopefully will last longer than 3 years. And since ipods are the future compactable radio and I can not afford it now, I will buy this one instead.

Well, my first week of work has passed and, wow, it went surprisingly well. I learned the most part really fast (that's what the workers told me there *jumps* ) and I can work most of the time on my own *is happy* I have to check waffers (sp?) with the microscope before they get delivered. And in those wafers are thousands of little elements which contains again little square thingies that are 20x smaller than the element. I have to sort the bad or damaged ones out by marking it with a waterproof marker which is 2/3 bigger than the spot I have to mark. Plus, I have to watch out that I don't go beyond the border lines. It wouldn't be that difficult if only the little thingies wont be exactly BESIDE the border. *grumbles*

On my first day, my first thought was "Oh shit!" But actually, from day to day I managed to learn everything I needed to know, so now, I'm really used to everything. Well, almost everything. I'm actually good at it now :) I'm so good at it, that I can do something other next week already.

My parents say, if do my work really good this year, the company I'm working at might take me again next year. I haven't heard any complaints so far, but my parents also say, it depends if the post I worked with returns to me because of some kind of complaints. Maybe it turned out that they weren't controlled thoroughly enough or there were some mistakes with the formulas or so.

I think I managed to mixed up the numbers I had to fill in some tables. Three times I think :(

Geez, I'm getting restless because of that. I don't think it's that bad, because there are a lot of papers where they can check to correct any misunderstandings. And it's just my first week, so why am I so restless?

arrgh!

It's over! It's over! School is over and my summer vacation officially started! *jumps*

Ah, got my report card for this semester and, well, I'm not satisfied with it nor am I happy with it. *sobs* Goodness, I have to improve next year. My notes next year will be the most important of all. One more year and I have my Abitur. Then I'll be going to university to study. That is if I find a place. *sobs* and with my notes it's just...

*shakes head* It's over now. 12th grade was horrible (concerning my marks, not because I hate the class or so). I have to start anew in 13th grade. But for now, I want to relax and rest. Monday I'll be starting my summer job and from that day on I have to be at 6 am at work O_o so that means I have to be up at 5 am in the morning. O___o Well, I'm actually looking forward to this. I'll have the house for myself in the next two weeks when my family leaves for Poland. It'll be as if living in my own apartment already, working in the mourning and cooking yourself a meal at night. Maybe I might even invite my friends over to grill and drink *jumps again* Yes, I'm really, really, really looking forward to that and really can't wait to fill up my bank account so I can finally start with my driver's license and buy myself a digital cam.

I will use the summer vacations as my own spa to recover from the 12th grade. I have the feeling that it will really do me good.
